Hello everyone and welcome back to my channel! Or welcome, if this is the first video you watch on this channel. My name is Lucrezia and I am an Italian teacher for foreigners. Today I will tell you about some Italian TV series that I have watched recently. To do this I will use expressions and words that are commonly used to describe what happens in movies and TV series. Therefore, I advise you to take note! To help you, of course, you can turn on subtitles. The first one I want to tell you about is "The Miracle", which was created by the writer Niccolò Ammaniti, whom some of you will know for the novel "I'm not afraid". It was released in 2018 and is part of the drama genre. For the moment it consists of a single season of 8 episodes. The story is mainly set in Rome and features a prime minister and his family, a priest in a crisis of faith, a very methodical biologist who listens only to science, a general of the Carabinieri together with his team. There are other characters in the story too of course, but these are the main ones. What happens? It happens that a statue of the Madonna is found that tears blood and all the characters find themselves, each according to their role, having to manage the event. An event that obviously also has consequences on their private life, forcing them to deal with their conscience. It is undoubtedly visionary as a TV series, it is also difficult to explain. It lends itself to many interpretations, especially on the finish. The second series I want to tell you about is “Petra”. The story is taken from the novels of the Spanish writer Alicia Giménez-Bartlett. It is a miniseries consisting of only four episodes, the genre is detective. The story is set in Genoa. The plot stars Petra Delicado, police inspector who, however, until then had carried out office duties, behind a desk. One day, due to a lack of personnel available to go to the scene of a murder, Petra finds herself in charge of the investigation. And so begins the evolution of the character, first insecure and inexperienced, then sure of her abilities and very frank. With her there is also a deputy inspector who, investigation after investigation, becomes her friend. I must say that at times this series is bloody and explicit. I didn't really like what happens in the second episode. But I don't want to tell you anything, so I'm not going to tell you what I didn't like about the second episode. Some steps could have been avoided, in my opinion. But overall I liked the series a lot, also because I really like the lead actress, Paola Cortellesi. The third series I want to tell you about is “Curon”. This series is framed in the supernatural genre of horror. For the moment it consists of a single season of 7 episodes. However, by looking for information on the internet, it is said that it is still in production. The series is called “Curon” because the story is set in Curon Venosta, a small town located in Trentino-Alto Adige, on the shores of Lake Resia. The plot is inspired by the legends that are truly handed down on this lake, from which a bell tower without bells emerges. But legend has it that at night you hear the tolling of the bells coming from the lake. What is the true story of this place? In 1950 the inhabitants of Curon Venosta were forced to leave their homes to move to the mountains, their houses were destroyed and the valley was flooded to create an artificial lake, with an adjacent dam, for the production of electricity. These events are found in the TV series. The plot revolves around the events of the Raina family, in particular of Anna, who after 17 years of absence from this village, returns to Curon with her children and from there the situation begins to go downhill substantially. The fourth series I want to tell you about is "I delitti del BarLume". It is a comedy that ends up in the detective story, or one could also say the opposite, it is a detective story that flows into the comedy. To date there are 7 seasons with a total of 14 episodes. Each episode lasts more than 50 minutes, it's like a mini-movie. You can watch episodes out of order. The series is based on the novels of Marco Malvaldi and the story is set in an imaginary town in Tuscany, Pineta. The protagonist is a bartender who, thanks to his investigative instinct, but also thanks to the chats with four old men who are assiduous patrons of his bar, manages to direct the police on the right track to solve the murders. The title also amuses me a lot, because there is a play on words. The protagonist's bar is called "Lume". But "gleam" is also an Italian word that means "clue", "sign". There is a moment when the ideas are clear. Having a glimmer of intuition. The fifth series I want to tell you about is “Don't Kill”, The series consists of 2 seasons for a total of 36 episodes. Set in the city of Turin, the story stars police commissioner Valeria Ferro, who must investigate crimes that always occur in family contexts. The atmosphere is very dark, very heavy. His private life is no different, because he will have to face his mother's return home after twenty years in prison. On many sites there is talk of a third season, but I have not found evidence of this. There is no third season on RaiPlay. For the moment there are only two. Let me know in the comments if you already know these series or if they are new to you. If you want more tips on Italian TV series to watch, I invite you to watch this video here! That's all for today. I hope the video is useful to you and that you have learned some new expressions. Thank you, see you in the next! See you soon, bye!
