Great Way to Add Fiber to Your Diet
First of all I'm a little perplexed by the previous reviews mentioning adding "scoops" of this to some drink.... This is not a powder which needs scoops, this particular product is a capsule. Having said that the benefits of a loose powder form would be the same as a capsule. I prefer the capsules because if I go out to eat then I just pop them in my mouth, and don't have to worry about mixing powders in a restaurant.

I bought this to help increase my fiber consumption. I've read about all the benefits of fiber, including a decrease in cholesterol (I have high cholesterol and take a statin for it). I did not buy this for help with bowel movements.... no problem there. Because I was trying to lose about ten pounds and maintain my weight I wanted a way to increase my fiber intake without adding more food to my diet. I wanted to limit my sugar and fat intake so I wanted to find a source of "pure" fiber and these capsules seemed the way to go.

I've been taking this about four months now and my cholesterol level has improved. When I did my blood work (after taking these about three months) my "bad" cholesterol decreased and my "good" cholesterol increased. Even though I really had no problems with my bowel movements I did notice a change, they seemed better.

About the product itself. I choose this because it consists of only the psyllium seed husks and the capsule. Each serving (4 caps) has 8 calories, 2.2 grams of fiber and - 0 - sugar. No other ingredients. According to the instructions for Regularity you take 4 capsules 1 to 3 times per day with food and an 8 ounce glass of water. OR for Heart Health you take 5 capsules 3 times a day with food and an 8 ounce glass of water. So I take 5 capsules 3 times a day (with food and water). The label recommends that you swallow one capsule at a time. The label also suggests that you start with one serving per day then increase to 3 as needed.

When I first started taking it I was a little gassy. But after three weeks or so that went away. I ran out of the capsules for a few days and when I did start taking them again I was gassy again for a week or two.

Just to recap: the benefits to me are an increase in fiber, without adding fat or sugar to my diet (which helps me maintain my weight) and better cholesterol numbers.

The price was right and the delivery was quick. I have been taking only one teaspoon daily with cereal so far and it's somewhat helping.

Exellent powder, feel great using it!!
I ordered this product and a great discount price on Amazon, considering how expensive it is in the Health Food stores where I live, I was stoked to see it on amazon. I mix it in soups and smoothies and it keeps me healthy and provides great fiber and keep my system regular, mixed with ground Flax seed powder it is a super healthy supplement to your over well being!! Thanks Amazon for selling this product--Love it!!

Not such a "psylli" thing to discuss......
Yerba Prima Psyllium Husk is a fantastic way to add more fiber to your diet. This product is of a very good quality and it works very gently.

You must know that taking a scoop here and there every day(I use a 5 gram scoop that I saved from another supplement that I use but a teaspoon will do)will not cause you to loose control of your bowels. The best way to use this is to work yourself up from a teaspoon a day until you get to a comfortable dose. Some people will find 1 does a day will help them but others may require more.

People who do not eat much fiber can be "leaving waste behind" even though they may evacuate daily. OK, this is not the most pleasant subject to discuss out in the open, this "poopie talk", but everyone must learn that it is a very serious topic when it comes to over all health. If you do not "clean your pipes" daily, so to speak, waste material can sit and slowly build up in your system. This waste can cause many side effects as it slowly "rots" in the body. People who do not evacuate regularly or only partially, may be dealing with problems that would otherwise subside if they would only go to the bathroom daily. Waste left rotting in our bodies can make us feel lethargic, irritable, bloated/full, and some abdominal pain so sharp that you would never assume is was just a "stuck poop". It also can make you hold water or possibly make your skin tone change I have read.

I would suggest this product, to supplement, not replace, a diet of high fiber foods.

PS: I get my nickname from being a tan bald guy with muscles, but it is ironic that I use this product and that I do "go" regularly so the name has a dual meaning here!

Great stuff!
This fiber powder is better than any other fiber powder I've tried. Very fine and effective.
