Nature's Plus - Red Yeast Rice Extended Rel, 600 mg, 60 tablets

I have a long history of high cholesterol. My doctor tried to put me on statin drugs, but I refused. I have been taking Red Yeast Rice for about a year and a half and have had no bad cholesterol reports since starting on this product. There are no side effects and it is a lot cheaper that the statin drugs.

My cholesterol did go down from 300 to 250 after using for 6 months. Not the result that I was hoping for but better than before. I am not able to use statins because of my fibromyalgia. They cause my problem with muscle spams to worsen. I have had a really bad time this past month with spasms. Not sure if the red yeast rice is the culprit or if I am just in a flare. Will continue on the red yeast rice for another 3-6 months to see if anything differs and will report back. Also, Natures Plus directions for use is to take it with dinner or in the evening. I can only take it in the morning. This product gives me wild and strange dreams after a few days of the eve dose. I did a trial of taking it over 3-5 days in each time period and it was definitely the evening dose causing the problem dream cycles. I contacted Natures plus and they told me taking it in the morn would reduce its effectiveness. So, hopefully most users will not have my problem and would get a better cholestrol drop.

My wife developed high blood presure and her HDL and LDL and treglicerides got way out of line. She started taking "Naturess Plus" red yeast rice and Omega 3 tabs (fish oil). A year later her LDL/HDL levels are back in line and the triglicerides are back to normal.
My view is dpn't mess with something that works.
