I bought this album because the first one was interesting. This one sucks. What is worse is that you can't take an album back once you've opened it. I would not recommend this to anyone. There was one song that drove me bananas, Cosmos. What were they thinking. Fortunately for them, the only song I liked was No. 2. The only song written by The Veronica's. Maybe this group should go about getting The Veronica's to write all their songs because those girls are more talented than anything out right now. T.A.T.U does not write their own music, maybe they should start because their writers are screwing their career. They can't afford to make another album like this, they will be a thing of the distant past, if remembered at all. 2006-03-01

As far as I know, Elena (Lena) and Yulia (Julia) are both straight, as that fact is a real intrigue over the fact that two "normal" girls can pull off a real convincing lesbian act, onstage and offstage. Yup, it turned out that having a gay image was a marketing ploy to turn heads towards their direction, a brainchild by their former sick-cum-ingenious manager Ivan Shapovalov.
Truth to be told, if we (the non-t.A.T.u fans) were to base our opinions on the music ONLY, I would say t.A.T.u are a duo that cannot be ignored by the public. Their slickly produced pop-electronic beats, savvy hooks and soaring vocals pretty much make "Dangerous and Moving" an album worth more than a few listens. From the outer space rhythm on "Cosmos", the haunting and sensual guitar riffs on "Sacrifice", and the computerized beats on the title track "Dangerous and Moving" are examples of taking pop-rock music in a whole new direction. Both girls' vocals have vastly improved. From the squeaky, helium chirping, have they involved into pure-talented singers with the gift of the voice! My absolute fave tracks are "Obezyanka Nol" and "Vsya Moya Lyubov". Naturally, Lena and Yulia sound much more natural and comfrotable singing in their nativ tongue than in English. The chorus of "Obezyanka Nol" is just unforgettable. Lena sings the song with all her heart and you can tell that she sings it with meaning and understanding. Vsya Moya Lyubov is just brilliant, with the vocals and the simplicity of the tune. 2006-02-24

You see a lot of comments abou t.A.T.u. like this: "I hate them, but you know, I think their songs are... pretty good" which means they've got good songs on this album! They used to be known for their lesbian image and all the other stories that branches out from it, but Lena Katrina and Julia Volkova aren't just cover art. They can sing! And they've got songs like "Loves Me Not", catchy and hard to forget, "Friends or Foes" their second single by Richard Carpenter, the bass is Sting, and the slow "Craving", the least t.A.T.u.-like song, but good all the same. Of course, we all know the worldwide hit "All About Us" with a strong beat and simple lyrics like "If/They/Hurt/You/They/Hurt/Me/Too" with a nice chuch bell-like wrap up; but I cannot certainly say that the two girls can tell hit songs from fillers before they get their album on the racks.
I can say there are no fillers on this album although I'm a bit tired of their lyrics, still the same from 200/km in the wrong lane except for the fact that they "used" to lie undercover but now? Anyway. "Cosmos (Outerspace)" and "Sacrifice" are my other favorites, so basically all of the songs do a good job of staying in your head and playing themselves over and over again. If you really want to appreciate the music, then you may have to ignore their pretence lesbian image for awhile. 2006-02-19
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Not that great, I'm afraid...
Their first album is a glossy-pop classic, full of hooks and interesting production twists. Unfortunately for all, the new one is a shallower version of that. Certainly, the first album was used as a formula for this, but all the clever inventiveness is gone.
Even more damaging, there are no amazing catchy songs as on the first record. Hooks and melodies are in evidence, but nothing as universally appealing as the first. Their sexual attitudes were a help/hindrance before, now it's no real issue. They still HAVE an attitude, but it's less well-produced than before. Get the first record! 2006-02-12
