Sacred Treasures: Choral Masterworks From Russia

This is one that sees near constant play. I really can't say enough about this title - absolutely beautiful.

This CD is a great starting point for people wishing to incorporate ancient traditions into their personal worship music.

Peter Tchaikovsky's version of The Cerubimic Hymn plus The Lord's Prayer on Sacred Treasures III, back-to-back, are nothing short of stunning, overwhelmingly moving, bring-you-to-tears examples of why music of the Russian Orthodox Church is an unparalleled experience never to be forgotten; especially to the believer. Lots of other first rate selections as well.

If you know music, but particularly have some understanding of the Orthodox sense of sprirituality and have Slavic blood, this will hit you down to the DNA.

Just take with a grain of salt another reviewer of Ukrainian descent's typical assertion that Kievan Rus' means only Ukraine rather than Russia. Will these ill-informed people never quit.

Enveloping, uplifting, soaring, angelic music that lends a sense of serene ecstasy to one's activities. This is the sound of worship in the Holy Orthodox Church. What a joy to be able to have such great choirs and such great expression of the sacred in one's own home.
