Awesome turntable for $150
Great budget turntable. I don't really know exact turntable terminology... but here it goes: the chassis is rock solid, but the tonearm looks a bit cheap. The platter looks okay, until you turn it up to 45rpm, and it starts to look a little bit off-center. I haven't had run into any problems with this though- the platter may be off a little bit, but that seems to be fine, as long as the record itself isn't. I think all of these things are acceptable, considering this table is [...].
After about 200 hours of play time, I started noticing the sound was more degraded. Hard to describe- more pops, hisses, highs aren't as clear. So I swapped out the cartridge with a Grado Black for [...]. Now the turntable sounds AMAZING.

Poor quality belt drive
I thought I would take a risk with this turntable after reading the warnings from the other reviews about the variations in the speed of the belt drive. This causes noticeable changes in the pitch of the recording making it sound like your guitars or singing are out of tune, and is more noticeable towards the end of the record. You can actually see the strobe dots speeding up and slowing down! I have sent mine back to sony for a refund. If it wasnt for this problem, it would have been a good turntable with solid construction and decent sound.
I have had good experiences with sony but this is one that isn't one of them. Im not sure why sony is still selling this model after so many people are having the same problem. NOT recommended.
