![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() review of the coby cx-61 receiver
I purchased these receivers for my church for the hearing impaired. I found them to be acceptable but reserve my full endorsement until we have more experience with them. My only concern is based on the inability to lock the tuned frequency on the frequency desired. I would also like the ability to tune up and down rather than "reset" to the low end of the band and tune upward in frequency(minor item). I think the general physical design is excellent and the pricing is wonderful. Our church is in the mountains east of San Francisco so interference is not a big problem. I have had only one "tuning jump in frequency". and this was during a test using a cd player into our transmitter. There was a momentary overdriven segment or "pop" and each time the receiver mis tuned when the event occured. I believe this event on the cd caused the transmitter to go "wideband" and the receiver responded by mis tuning.
I have only used the unit once in a "live" sermon situation and the receiver performed flawlessly. 2008-02-15
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Cheap, broke in 3 months
I experienced the same station-jumping that other users compained about. It just won't stick to a station. Also, mine broke after three months of light use. You get what you pay for. 2006-11-09
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Circuit design problem
It keeps trying to jump up to the next frequency. Sometimes it will jump back down again, but other times it has to be reset.
I have used scanning digital radios before (cheaper than this one) and didn't have this problem. At first I thought it was a reception problem, but when it happened on strong signals as well as weak, and seemingly at random, I knew there was no hope for this radio. I like the neckstrap and I use it with a different radio. 2006-06-15
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Too cheap to work well
The sound is a bit distoted, radio reception is OK. But the headphone cable is too short. The most anoying is that there is now way to keep the unit from changing stations at the slightest touch, CDs and iPods have a hold switch, this item keep going ot the next station with no way to lock it to a station. Also it does not store presets. 2006-06-01
