Sony DVP-FX820/R 8-Inch Portable DVD Player, Red

Bought it to play educational and other DVD's. I usually like Sony products. The 1st 2 DVD's I played were fine. From then on nothing but trouble. It would pause after playing a short while and not start again unless I would move the machine. It would play for another second and then stop and do this repetedly. This did not happen with 1 DVD but all of mine. I called the service number and was told that it would not play DVD's with paper on them. It states this in the manual, but I assumed it meant something other that the sticker that is on all DVDV's. All my DVD's have paper labels which state what is on the DVD. The only ones that don't have paper are ones that were burned by someone on their own machine, not purchased DVD's.

As I had opened and tried the machine, I could not return it to Amazon. Trying to get help from Sony was awfull. when I would call I would get someone in India. I wanted to talk to someone in the USA. I was not understood and I did not understand the person I was speaking to. I went online and after some searching I found that otheres were having the same problem and was told to return it to their service center and they would send me a new machine. Trying to get the place to send it was another hassle. I now have to send my brand new machine to Texas, at my expense to have it replaced with another machine that probably won't work as all my DVD's have paper labels on them. If I could I would give it and Sony a zero rating for the product and their service dept.

We bought this portable DVD player to use on long trips in the car with the kids. It has a beautiful screen, and works great.It includes a fully functional remote control, and it is very easy for a younger child to use. I have always found that with Sony, you may have to pay a little more for their products, but I have never been dissapointed with any Sony product that I have purchased.

we bought this to take on the airplane so that our 3 year old son would have something fun to keep him occupied. we also have a road trip planned and were greatful that it came with a car adaptor for those long days. our son loves it- he just sits quiet and content. we couldn't be any happier!
