SanDisk Sansa Clip 4 GB MP3 Player (Silver)

This player has a lot of features for the money... clips on, light weight, small screen, FM radio, voice recorder, and can handle mp3 & WMA files. By encoding to 96kbps WMAs a 2GB player will hold about 650 songs. Double that for the 4GB. For everyone having "freezing" problems: Do a hard reset. This seems to be the norm right out of the box. It happened to me also. Just hold the on button up for about 10 seconds. Once the player is responsive again, **update the firmware** via the Sansa updater included in the software or downloaded from the Sansa website. This is a must for these players. I own 3 different styles of these players and they all need a firmware upgrade occasionally.
Another cause of freezing is corrupted mp3 files. If a song seems to stutter or freeze, rip it again from the CD, etc.

I did a lot of research on MP3 players and it paid off because I'm very happy with the Sansa Clip. It attractive, tiny, lightweight, easy to read, and the sound quality is very good. Most importantly, it's very easy to use and I'm saying that as a first time MP3 player user. As a complete novice I didn't have any trouble transferring and playing music and audio books. The player provides lots of playback options. You can create playlists on the Clip or on your computer and transfer them. You can also play songs by rating (which you assign), artist, genre, or album. Every option is covered. It works great for audio books and I've downloaded a number of titles from my local library's Overdrive service. The only cons I've found is that the battery life could be better and the pause function doesn't switch back and forth from music to audiobook.

i just purchased this mp3 player to get 4 gb my i audio by cowon was only 512 this is an excellent value for $60.00 it's no frills very portable sounds at least as nice as my cowon and is about the size of a box of matches 4gb 60 bucks can't go wrong try it you'll like it

It's cute, sounds good and is reasonably priced, but the Sansa Clip 4 Gb freezes *a lot* for no apparent reason. Usually it's just annoying and all you have to do is "reset." But today I turned mine on and only the logo showed: It would do nothing. After looking for a solution online, I found that I had to reformat the drive and of course, then transfer all of my mp3 files and audio books on to it again. Do yourself a favor and search the Internet for "sansa clip freeze" before you buy.
