Samsung HT-AS720ST Blu-Ray-Matching 5.1 Channel Home Theater System (Set of Seven, Black)

I recently purchased this item from Best Buy along with a Samsung LCD. Once geek squad completed the setup and flipped the switch I was blown away. It has truly amazing sound and am very pleased with all of the features such as the HDMI inputs and how it upconverts video to 1080p. My only gripe with this set is the remote. I use this in a dark media room and I am not used to the remote so it would have been useful if the remote buttons were backlit. I may end up getting a universal harmony one remote so in the end it will not matter or I may just need to get used to the button layout. Either way this is a great product and can't wait to hear the action come to life once I get my blu-ray player.

I had a Sony Dream System but I kept dreaming that it would be a home theater system, which it wasn't. I had purchased it about three years ago and back then they didn't even have upconverting DVD players so what you bought was what you got. Don't get me wrong my old system was terrific for its time but ever since I purchased a Samsung LNT4650 LCD TV in January, I wanted something a little bit more "WoW".
Enter Samsung's HT-AS720ST Blu-Ray Matching 5.1 Channel Home Theater System.
First off, check the prices around. I did and I found that Amazon was the least expensive by far. You have to remember to add the sales tax locally and then you have the true price. With Amazon I didn't pay for shipping or sales tax so the price on the system is what I paid for. I've been sold on Amazon for quite some time.
Secondly, check out the reviews on this system. With the exception of a couple of people who got DOA systems this system has been rated 5 stars for performance, sound, quality etc. Believe them they are telling the truth.
I got the system on Tuesday of this week. After removing the old system and donating it to my daughter and husband(who were ecstatic), I ran all new 14 gauge speaker wire for the system. I then purchased 2 more polk speakers to make the system a 7:1 channel system and added new speaker stands and 2 wall hangers to complete the system. It took me the better part of a day to hook it up to my liking.
I added a Samsung Blu-ray Player to complete the integrated Samsung system and last night I watched the Blu-ray DVD that Samsung gives you in the box. I was blown away. The sound is exactly what everyone is writing about in here. Crisp, Clear, distortion-free, powerful, 7 Channel home theater that doesn't cost a fortune. I wanted "Wow" I got "Wow".

I bought this piece to match my Blu-Ray player. sounds great, rich bass, crisp highs even tho its 650 watts vs my 1000watt system the samsung sounds better. also the 1080p by-pass is for video only! not sound. no ipod hook up, but still a great unit.

I have had quite a few surround sound systems in the past but I just got a samsung TV with a BD player so this was just complimenting both of the other electronics.

The only con i think there is with the product is that it has only 2 hdmi inputs where as they could have added just the one more hdmi port we need.

Just after listening to the radio on this thing which by the way comes with the antenna to hook up fm channels, I was in love with this thing, perfect bass and treble for my ears.

Installation is a breeze just hook your cables up and relax and listen to this baby make you feel like you are on cloud nine. Just the one thing anyone needs to complete there AV setup.

Thank you SAMSUNG to come out with such a great product and making it affordable for us.

The sound from this unit is more than I could have hoped for. As of yet I'm not using the rear speakers because of the location but when we replace the carpet we are going for the full 7.1 sound. I'm more than happy with this equipment.
