What a great little gem
It is so cool to watch movies and view photos from the iPod on my TV in top quality, and with great sound. It also charges the iPod while doing this. You can also ignore the video cable and play music in top quality sound through the audio cables. You can't fully enjoy your iPod until you own these.

IPOD Video Cable
I had originally bought a monster cable and it would not work with my IPOD Touch. Bought this and it works great. The only concern I had was the where the wire meet the RCA type plug should be reinforced.

Performs as advertised
Yeah-yeah, it's overpriced (needs an internal IC to perform DRM), shouldn't come with base station/power adapter (since we already have one with the iPhone, etc, etc. But if you wanna export component video signal to your external device, the cable works as advertised. The cable seemed longer than I expected (maybe a plus or minus depending on your point of view) and the connectors and cables are built to last.

It works...
It does what it's supposed to do. However, for just a hair shy of $50.00 it should jump through hoops & give you about 25 free iTunes song credits too. It's a shame that proprietary equipment can actually make a life harder. I have a car stereo that hooks up perfectly to older iPods with a supplied iPod cable. That cable doesn't do anything for the iPod Classic version in regards to enjoying my overpriced (can't complain too much it is the choice I made after all) mp3 player. But luckily the stereo had an option to connect the audio/video composite cable system, otherwise I'd be totally screwed... but whatever. Apple needs to take all things into consideration when they attempt to monopolize an industry sector. Sometimes it comes back to bite you in the arse. But.... whatever. Like I said... It does what it says it does... for the iPod Classic.

Give it a chance...
I've noticed a lot of people giving this item a low score because of the price and the fact that it's the only cable you can use for video feed with the newest gen of iPods. Few people have actually discussed the function of the item itself. Yes, $49 (or $44 on Amazon) is more expensive than it should be, but the fact of the matter is that it's a good product. I didn't have any problem getting it to work, and the quality of the picture was better than I thought. I don't know what I expected, but after reading all the negative reviews, it was a pleasant surprise. Though I agree with most everyone else that Apple is price gouging in this puppy, they were forced into putting the special chip in the new gen of iPods, so we can only blame them for what it costs, but not why we have to have it. All in all, I'm satisfied.
