![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Works Great for my new 160 gb classic
Works just like it should. Although, I don't agree with having to pay this much for a cable when the old iPod would do the same thing with a cable a fraction of the cost... Uh well. 2008-04-23

First, $50 is alot compared to what the third party cables go for but are incompatible with the latest gen ipods. That being said, what you get with this package is still a good value. I have used the A/V cable to hook up to my 37" HDTV and to my vehicles DVD screen and it looks great! It would be nice if the connectors were textured so that you could grip them better. It can be tough to remove them once connected. The solution: dont push them on so far. You will still get a good connection without needing pliers to disconnect them. Many people may not need the included usb charger, but I have found it useful. 2008-04-18
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Composite Cable
Great product! It works just as advertised! The connectors could have been designed with some sort of grip. It is difficult to unplug. Other than that I bought it for a reason and the reason works! 2008-04-17
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Authentication chip is a myth!
This cable is expensive because it includes a power supply, so that you won't run out of power while watching a movie. If you're not worried about that, buy any iPod video cable with *composite* output and a *dock* connector. They're cheap on Amazon (I see two for under $10). This will work on any iPod or iPhone, but you may need to plug it directly into the iPod (it won't work plugged into some docks). This seems to have caused a lot of confusion. There is no authentication chip.
If you have any iPod made before the iPhone came out, you can get composite video directly out of the headphone jack (that changed with the iPhone because it has a microphone connection there instead). For example, the Macally Audio and Video Cable for iPod is $6.75 from Amazon. 2008-04-12
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Not sure I should have ordered it.
I wanted to play my music ( and secondarily my videos) from my 6G iPod Classic through my home system and since Apple has craftily made it impossible to do so simply without their overpriced cable I ordered it. It is attractive ( as cables go) and includes a USB charger. It plays videos fine but I have been having a hard time playing just music. It shows nothing on screen when it is connected for music ..just black...and my switcher refuses to select the iPod as an input when I have all three cables jacks connected. My solution has been to leave the video ( yellow) jack connected to the switcher and manually plug the audio jacks into my Bose each time i want to play music. A bit of a bother but it works...The problem is most likely that my switcher requires a video input for any device and the iPods stubborn refuses to output so much as an Apple logo when it is playing music. Weird because it apparently has video menu output with the dock. But I guess i am able to watch videos and hear my music after a few jack switches..so it works. 2008-04-09
