SanDisk Sansa Clip 1 GB MP3 Player (Black)

I have only owned this for 2 days now, so keep that in mind..

Pros:
- Great sound
- Great battery life
- Incredibly compact
- Incredibly lightweight
- Good interface (easy to navigate)

Cons:
- 1 GB is really not enough
- Earphones sound good but are slightly uncomfortable.

Bottom line: IF you are looking for a compact, lightweight, convenient, "easy to navigate" MP3 player, then this is it. You may want to consider more than 1GB. If you purchase this with Sennheiser CX400L headphones with lanyard, you can wear it like a necklace all of the time...use it when it's convenient and keep it under your shirt when it is not. This mp3 player exceeded my expectations for what I thought I would get.

I bought a Sansa MP3 player two years ago to use with Audible audio books, but because of a bad firmware issue, it died only months later. I'm hoping this Sansa player works better, as I bought two of them -- one each for my two daughters. I was surprised at how small they are! (The Sansa player, not my daugheters!) And I didn't really think anything of its name, but the clip is as big as the player. What I didn't realize is how wonderful these are for kids! Because they're so small and light, if they fall to the ground, they hardly have any weight to them so they'll not shatter or crack like bigger, heavier players. The clip is great for kids -- the snap it on their shirt and they're off. Getting it set-up to use with Audible Manager was surprisingly easy -- no troubles at all, just activate the device and load it up. These units aren't costly, either, so if it gets accidentally damaged, you're not out a lot of money. The reason I'm giving it a four star rating is that the user manual is really awful, and if you're not accustomed to using these devices, the manual will leave a lot of questions unanswered (like, how will you know when the player is fully charged? (answer: the flashing battery bar will remain solid instead of flashing). It would have been nice, too, to have included a stow pouch. Lastly, the Sansa website was unable to successfully install the update checker program that determines whether the device needs a firmware upgrade. Maybe too many other Sansa customers were trying to do the same thing (it was Christmas afternoon when I tried), but still.

In sum, this seems like a really nice device for the money, and if you're an Audible customer, this is an excellent choice for you!

My son bought this after shopping around with his allowance money, and it was far and away the best deal for the money. Not fancy, only 1 gb, but everything you can desire out of an MP3 player w/o all the gimmicks available on Ipod. Most don't need that stuff, anyway. Good user interface, decent earphones, and cheap song downloads. Turns out my husband, who extensively researches his purchases, had already bought himself the same one, and is very happy with it.
