I had a number of cassettes I wanted to convert into digital format on the computer. I tried my own do-it-yourself way hooking up a cassette player to the computer and using a software to convert, but there was a lot of noise.
I finally decided to get this product and I think it's excellent and also very easy to use. I have Windows XP. 1. Install CD software & iTunes (if you don't have it on the computer yet) 2. Plug the Tape2PC to a USB port on your computer 3. Open up the software program on computer 4. Press play on Tape2PC and it records 5. It can also automatically break down your tracks into individual ones 6. After recording, it imports into iTunes There is the "Gain" nob on back of the Tape2PC that you dial up or down so that the cassette doesn't sound too noisy sometimes. It's a one time adjustment basically. The resulting recording is crisp and noiseless and just like a CD-converted mp3. For those still into dubbing cassettes, there are 2 cassette players with the Tape2PC to allow dubbing. The cons are that the machine itself is large. Remember the old school home stereo systems? This machine is that size to allow people to incorporate it easily into their set. Also (it's not really a fault of the machine, but the way cassette works in general), it can only record to computer on real-time. So if you cassette is 40 minutes long, it will take 40 minutes to record to computer. That's a lot of time if you have many cassettes. It also does not auto-reverse to Side B after Side A is finished playing. Therefore, you have to check on the recording job about every 20 minutes to make sure you turn over the time. 2010-03-16

the converter works pretty good. if you have old tapes it will not make them sound good tho. had some problems initailly hooking it up to the computer w/itunes. can not convert both sides of the tape at 1 time tho which i was really hoping i could. directions could have been a little better. for the price i got this for it is not a bad product tho. 2010-03-08

I was very unhappy with this product. The first software CD was not written correctly and had recording instruction errors. I contacted the Company. They had me download a second set of instructions which also had errors. The system simply did not work, and I returned it for a full refund. 2010-03-06

Just recently purchased the ion tape 2pc very easy to use. The negative is it only works with I tunes you can tranfer your music to to windows, or other media program and then transfer it to your specific mp3 I use the Sansa. Overall if you have cassettes that are priceless, and you want to keep them this is the way to go.EZ vinyl/tape program only works with ITunes. 2010-03-03

I bought the Ion Tape2PC USB Cassette Deck in order to copy many of my cassettes, that for many I had previously recorded from records, onto my PC and then to CDs. I have been using the deck about a month and it works quite well. All of the music is copied to iTunes and from there I can pick which music I want to copy to CDs. It is also nice that I can listen to the music as I copy it.
If I have to find something to complain about, it would be a minor point. It would be nice to have a pause on the recording option on the software, so I can turn the cassette over and resume on the other side. Instead, I have to copy side one and then transfer that music to iTunes and then come back and copy side two and then transfer that music to iTunes. Again, that is only a minor inconvenience. Overall, I highly recommend the product. 2010-03-02
