Great product
Best price I could find for a 7.1 system with 3/1 HDMIs. Very easy to set up if using HDMI connections (buy the cheap $2 cables through amazon, work just as good as name brand over-priced ones), microphone automatically calibrated my polk speakers, and unit runs pretty cool. Added the optional DMport so that I could listen to my entire Ipod library. So far I think this receiver is awesome. I would recommend connecting speakers using banana clips due to receiver's screw-in style inputs.

Great receiver!
Bought this unit to replace an older Sony 5.1 unit. Used with a Sony lcd hi-def tv and driving a pair of Polk tower speakers, plus a center channel, sub-woofer and 2 rear speakers. Plenty of power! Fairly easy setup-READ THE INSTRUCTION BOOK!! Would recommend to all!

Very Week FM receiver. No response from Sony
A few weeks ago I sent this e-mail to Sony. To-date I have received no response

Question #1 I have a background hiss on my PBS FM Radio Station. Why?
Background:
I replaced a Sony STR D990 with this Sony STR DG 910. I got perfect FM reception with the STR D900. Now I get a subtle but annoying background hiss when trying to listen to WRTI Or the PBS station. A few rock stations come in fine.
Question #2
I am connected to my 50" Panasonic Plasama TV via HDMI. Is there any reason to connect your Digital Coaxial to my TV?
Thank you for your time and information.
Phil

Even though it took days and days to figure out the connections and the technical switching instruction, I finally got the unit working. Then when I went to reattach the FM cable (over the air) I now get a hiss indicating a very week FM receiver. What a bad deal! And then, no answer from SONY!!!!

3 HDMI Inputs makes this AV receiver a winner
I purchased this receiver to work with my Optoma HD80 1080p DLP projector. I have 3 HDMI sources, XBox360, PS3, and HD DirectTV DVR that work flawlessly with the receiver. I was able to connect the three devices to the receiver and then run a single HDMI cable to the projector. This was the least expensive receiver, I found, that supported 3 HDMI inputs.

The ability to rename the sources on the receiver display is a very nice feature. It is much easier to determine that "PS3" is for the Playstation 3 than "Video 1"

Nice Receiver
I purchased this item for the bravia theater sync feature to use with our new lcd tv, along with a new sony dvd player. The theater sync works very well, after some trial and error - along with exhausting flipping through all of the manuals.
I have the receiver hooked up to a polk surround bar and subwoofer, and the sound is nice. Not as good as a large set of speakers for music, nor a true surround system, but much better than listening to the tv speakers.
The setup of the receiver does take some time and the manual is not all that great. Once set up the receiver works fine and I would say great with the theater sync. Obviously, the hdmi inputs and video pass through are great, but if you do not need the bravia theater sync compatability, I think you could find a better sounding receiver in this price range. Although that may be difficult to do if you are looking for the hdmi functionality the unit offers. I am happy with the receiver and it works for my needs.
