![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Great product... especially for the price
Pros:
- HDMI functionality This receiver provides the most HDMI functionality at its price range than any other receiver. The HDMI pass-through, switching, and component upconversion allowed me to hook up my PS3, DVR, and Media center to my TV via one HDMI cable. Before I had my speakers, I was using the TV speakers and its good to know that this system will pass audio through HDMI as well so I needed minimal cables from all of my devices. I was originally looking at the Harmon Kardon 347, and the Denon AVR, but the sony was the only one which passed audio. The Denon does have a HDMI 1.3a port which supports deep color, but I do not have any blu-rays yet which support this feature. I am not sure where else you can use a deep color output since Fios does not support it as well for their HD programming. Other Pros are the on screen setup and the easy automated setup. The sound quality is decent, but I could have used some more EQ options. Cons - - No network port For this price I wasn't looking for a network port, but having one would have been nice. - No USB port This receiver does have the DMPort, but having a USB port would have been nice. For now, I just use the PS3. All in all, this receiver provided exactly what I needed with a great picture, quality sound, and many extra features. 2008-01-27
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Great Receiver
Bought this receiver around 2 months ago. Got it hooked up to an Xbox 360 & DirecTV. Absolutely no problems with it so far. Hooked up real easy, although I think one of the previous reviewers was right, would be a heck of a lot easier if I had gotten a set of banana plugs for the speaker wires. Menus are a bit tedious to use, but you only really need to set them up once . Also couldn't get the DirecTV remote to work it properly, it refused to send the volume commands to the receiver - but that looked like a problem with DirecTV, not Sony. Great sound quality, too. All in all, I'd recommend this to anyone looking for 7.1 channel surround sound receiver. 2008-01-23

I'm totally satisfied with this Sony receiver.Be prepared to study the handbook thoroughly as the menus can get a little confusing. Also do yourself a favor and get banana plugs to hook up your speakers. After all is said and done you will be rewarded with a great receiver.

I searced a while, read reviews and this is a great receiver. I hooked my Sony Blu-Ray player and Cox HD Converter up to the HDMI inputs and the sound and picture are great. I feel the hdmi upconversion makes my HD picture look better than without. Awesome sound and having the sound field controls to change it to your liking is nice. I used the automatic speaker set up option and the sound fields are better than I have ever had for surround sound. Great product for those in the economical range. I am a Sony fan. 2008-01-18
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Am I happy with my DG910? Yes!
The upgraded Picture when viewing DVDs is great! The menu system was confusing to me and the Command Remote did not include codes for my other components. I had to buy a learning remote to be able to run all three from one remote. I also bought a Sony SA-FT1H 5.1 Flat Panel Speaker System that works great with the DG 910. 2008-01-14
