I searched a long time for a player that would play ALL audiobook formats and finally found this one. It plays Audible and all the free books from the library as well as any other sources I have been able to find such as podcasts and free university lectures. I have tried a Rio, Ipod, Creative Zen and a Zune. None of them have been able to handle the number of different formats as effortlessly as the D2. The touch screen is great. You can lock out the screen to carry it in a pocket and it has a long battery life. Sound quality is great. It will pick up where you left off on Audible type material. For other formats that don't bookmark automatically, it will start at the beginning of the chapter you were on and you touch the slide to move a cursor to where you left off. So much easier than fast forwarding to where you were. This is just the best MP3 for audiobook people- oh and it will play music too:) 2008-03-10

Excellent Product - way better than iPod and packed with features! Sounds out of this world with my Philips Virtual Surround ear buds. Make sure to tweak the audio/equilizer settings to suit your taste - the one that came with didnt sound right for my songs. Touchscreen is easy to navigate and battery life is unbelievable!
FM Radio quality could be better - my old philips radio with dynamic bass boost sounds much better! Folders/songs doesnt show up right - not sure what setting i need to tweak! Sound quality is exceptional and crisp - that is what matters! 2008-03-03

I recently purchased the COWON D2 ~ 4 GB MP3 Player. I think it is a great player. What motivated me to purchase this player was the very good reviews I found on the FM Radio feature and sound quality. Having come off using an IPod 4GB and hating it. This player is excellent. Then once I received it it was so user friendly it inspired me to download all my cd's onto an 8GB card and pop it into the expansion slot. Awesome! The sound is very good, the ease of use is great. I did have a couple of tech questions. Jumped over to the web site. Typed in my issue and immediately was called and walked through the "how to's". I rate this player "very good" and I have not even touched on the cool screen access! Hope you give COWON a try. Move up to excellence over the status quo. 2008-03-01

The only down side to this product is you can't drag and drop movies or videos you've downloaded directly. You need to covert them down with the jetaudio app. It takes a bit of time to do this. Budget about 1:3 ratio. So it takes about 1 hour to render down 3 hours of video. Something you might want to leave run while you go to lunch or over night.
The conversion app does seem to work very well with a range of formats and really crunches the video files down, making the on board storage go even farther. With the addition of an SD card, you can pack a lot of viewing into this sucker. Great for an overseas plane ride. The images remain crisp. The photo viewer is a bit of a problem. The zoom level doesn't zoom in very much. So if you keep a subway map for a large city on your D2, you might have to squint hard. The lack of external controls kind of makes some navigation a pain. The text reader requires you to use the pen a lot to scroll down. I haven't tried the mp3 function but this probably isn't a device you're going to want to use at the gym. All 'n' all, if you're looking for a compact portable video player that can use your SD cards, this is first in class. 2008-02-27

I use the D2 primarily for listening to audiobooks from Netlibrary and Audible. The D2 has great bookmarking, a reliable resume feature ( that has to be enabled by checking it.)The tap on the screen interface is a breeze to use and hard to screw up. Best of all, it is the only player that has a time elapsed bar that can be tapped at any point to move immediately to that part of the file. So if you are using a 20 hour single file Netlibrary book, you do not have to hold the fastforward down for ten minutes to get back to your place if you accidentally lose it. 2008-02-14
