A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!!!
Best on the market for the money. Easy to adapt to your current products, i.e. TV, DVD Player, etc. I would definitely recommend this receiver to anyone who wants bang for their buck.

Buy it!!!

Great Receiver
This is a great receiver and have been enjoying it since I had it. I have only five speakers, hence the 7.1 channel does not work for me.

If you want a simple easy to work receiver and affordable, I would recommend it.

Good Buy for the Price !
I have research the price vs quality and thanks to much reviews by fellow consumers, I find the Onkyo TX-SR505 to be a good buy.
The surround sound was great even though I am using only 5 speakers and set the receiver to 5.1 (a great option).
Listening to music is also great for this price range. I have a Harman Kardon HKTS-18 which work great with the Onkyo TX-SR505.
The setup is not too difficult however it took some time figuring out connecting combination of HDMI/component cables from HDTV/Cable box/DVD player since I do not have everthing HDMI yet. I am aware of the audio by pass which is fine for me because of the price range.

I would recommend this receiver.

ABSOLUTE GARBAGE - no warranty support
I bought this receiver thinking it would do as a nice home theater unit and it failed within 2 weeks of hooking it up. I took it to the local warranty service place for it, and after 3 trips, and 2 MONTHS getting parts, it worked for about a week before it blew up again. It shuts off and turns itself on randomly as if overloading, but does it even when the unit is turned off! Click click all the time every 10 minutes. I have never turned it up even to test, and never abused it. My speakers are just like-new Bose speakers that work with everything else just fine. I tried both to call and email Onkyo, but the support is NON-EXISTENT, and the wait times online are always far longer than any normal person would wait. NO response from customer support emails at all.
If you want to take a chance, fine, its up to you. I for would want any problems with a new product fixed and you take a risk here, but I guess I'm just out my money on this one.

Good, but needs a couple more options
This is a nice receiver with good sound quality and some neat features. There's a couple of things about the HDMI ports that bother me. Number one is the fact that the audio can only be passed through, so I have to run audio cables back to the receiver to get the sound through the receiver. That just seemed like a weird decision on Onkyo's part. The second problem that I have with the HDMI ports is that they have to be assigned to either VCR/DVR, DVD, or CBL/SAT. So, you can only have three HD video sources even though there are five inputs for HD. (I have four).

Other than those couple of things, the receiver is great with some interesting features. It's worth the money.
