Good value; feature rick
I ordered this player because it could play from a USB drive and/or a SD chip. Trying it out with DVDs, chips and jump drives, I found it played all media well, just as advertised. If I were to change anything, I would add an adjustment for the amount of time the jpegs display in the slide show. If that is an option, I have not figured it out yet!

Overall, this player does what it claims and is easy to use. I would not hesitate to recommend it to friends.

Is exactly what I wanted
I bought this DVD unit because I was looking for a cheap portable video player that had a USB port which allowed me to plug in a USB storage deviece to play Dixv, Xvid, and other compressed video files.
So far, I have watched a dozen files and 1 DVD on it.
1 video file, while watchable, did not play correctly. It had a pixelating shadow effect.
All other files worked perfectly.
My major problem with this unit is that only USB thumb drives work on it. I tried 2 different portable HDD (Seagate standard external and a WD passport).
BTW, I have tried 3 different brands of thumb drives and all work perfectly.
The unit has a usable interface and does everything I wanted it to do.
I will update this review after I use it longer (so far I have not even charged the battery).

Definitely great product.
I bought this product for my 18 month old baby and she can't live w/out it now. During having her meals, at the car, even during paying visit to friends who has no children. I record her favorite Baby TV shows to DVD and she is happy even just with this DVDs. It's good to know that I can use the USB port and SD card slot for any type of videos.
Also I use this item as a DVD player at my home and I can open most of the movies at my hard drive in divx format. Qpel and some different codecs are still could not be played at this player. Last comment, there is a bug at viewing Turkish subtitles during watching divx movies which some Turkish characters cannot be viewed correctly.

You get what you pay for
After taking this player for a test drive on a plane trip, realized it's not the player for me.

Pros: Video quality is decent. Speaker quality and volume is pretty good for small speakers. Ability to read images off SD cards is nice. Charges to full battery pretty quickly. Two stereo headphone jacks is a plus.

Cons: Battery life barely lasts through a 2 hour movie. Couldn't make it through 40 Year Old Virgin without dying and that's using headphones the whole time. Play resume function didn't seem to work reliably when powering off the unit. Had to turn the volume up to the max to hear it over the noise of the plane. Unit feels a little plasticy and cheap and the latch to close it needs to be readjusted every time you want to shut the unit again.

Overall, meh.... gonna try the Sony next.

Useless for USB and SD use
The sole reason I purchased this item is because it played AVI files from SD cards and USB flash drives and was DivX compatible. The description and all the reviews boast about how *nifty* this USB/SD feature is, however, none of them tell you the QUALITY of the movies playing from these sources.

I loaded several movies onto a USB flash drive and also an SD card and tested them both. When playing high-quality AVIs, the video is horrible. All moving objects are very blocky and digitized looking, like the processor or graphics card can't keep up. However, low quality AVIs (cartoons, etc) play beautifully. Too bad I didn't buy this for watching cartoons :(

Just to be sure, I popped both the flashdrive and the SD card into my laptop and tried them there as well...directly from the flashdrive/card, not my HD. They both played beautifully. I even tried the SD card in my PDA and that played beautifully too. That's three different players and four different movies, and only the Coby player had this problem.

I actually love everything ELSE about this player. But I had to give it 1 star because I bought it for one specific purpose and that feature is useless to me. I'm going to be returning it.

If you're buying it for playing DVD disks or music, or watching very low quality AVI files (cartoons, etc) via USB or SD, then I highly recommend this player.

But if you're looking for something to play high-quality AVI's (most movies) via USB or SD, then this is not the one you want.
