MEIZU MP4 Portable Video & Music Player 4GB (Black)

I have had this unit for one week now... it plays audio files with great sound and depth. The included earphones have great frequency response also. (They don't fit my ears very well so I am using Creative EP-630 earbuds instead.)

I updated this unit to the latest firmware and have no complaints whatsoever! The screen has great clarity and the brightness level is adjustable also. There are a lot of great features to this player, and is a lot less expensive than the Nano or the Sansa units.

My advice is to get one today.

I bought Meizu 4GB on sale last year. At the beginning the result wasn't very smooth. I could easily listen to my mp3s but I had trouble with videos. I had a hard time with it's manual process and once the player got stuck while playing a video (I had to drain the battery to shut it off). After upgrading the firmware that night the player started to work great (just make sure you backup your files, the firmware sets the player to it's factory settings). I have yet to have any major problems. However my only complaint would be the scroll bar pad. It seems a little fragile unlike it's brilliant screen. Compare to Ipod it can get easily worn out if it's abused.

Overall I give 4.5 for the player. None the less compare to Ipod I'm more happy with Meizu.

Great product. I upgraded from an old Ipod mini 4gb that cost about $200 a few years ago because the battery was having problems. It's amazing to me how easy this thing works compared to that ipod.

There is no Itunes to make loading songs and video take forever...

Multiple audio formats are compatable...

Video looks great and converting it with the included software is fast and easy...

Radio and voice recorder...

Brilliantly bright screen and it comes with a shammy to keep the screen fingerprint-clean without scratching!!!

Also, it seems to me that the included earpluggs sound better than my ipod ones when compared on the same songs, the meizu can support more bass.

A great buy. If only I had this on my long flights to and from japan a few months ago...

Well for the short time that I had the player, I thought it was great. But shortly after I got it, it froze and I wasn't able to reset it. So I let the battery run down, hoping I could charge it and it would turn back on, however the player wouldn't turn back on.

So naturally I wanted to exchange it but it was a gift and my girlfriend who bought it for me (with my own money :P) didn't have the information of who she bought it from. When I found the right seller I was told that I could not exchange it because by the time I found out who it was from it was past 30 days and they said I couldn't exchange a product after 30 days but I could get a partial refund, they kept reffering me to their policy which contradicts what they were telling me. I continued to talk to the customer service about it, because the policy states that I can not get a full refund after 30 days, it does not state that you cannot exchange a defective item after 30 days, even though my item quit working well before the 30 days.

After some time talking to the Amazon staff they said they decided to make a one time exception and take responsibility for shipping me an item damaged due to their error. So they gave me the code and I sent the item back. I didn't hear from them for two weeks, then I finally got an e-mail that said my refund had been processed. Only when I opened the e-mail it said I had been charged a $21 re-stocking fee which is ridiculous seeings how I was told I would get a full refund. This is what made me mad, they had blatantly lied to me.

The price paid was $116 and I got $94 back, in other words if the items didn't go on clearance I would have had to pay an extra $21 for them sending me a defective item. This also meant that I had to buy from the same people who made me go through so much trouble, and lied to me to end the problem instead of just fixing their mistake. I would have paid the extra $21 to buy it from one of the companies I ran into while trying to find out who sold it to my girlfriend because they were very helpful. Or I would have bought one of the 8GB versions from another vendor which were the same price as was initially paid for the 4 gb. But since they lied to me and did not fully refund me I was not able to do this.

After this I will never buy from Amazon LLC again, If I were you I would buy from another vendor, they are much more helpful and I'm pretty sure they won't rip you off.

I had searched on the market for about a month and compared many many (trust me!) mp3 and mp4 players from big and little names. I now own my MEIZU MP4 for one month and a half, and still feel lucky that I made a right decision.
