RCA/MSN TV 2 Internet and Media Player

I bought this for my 80 year old mother who didn't want a computer but still wanted to email and access the web. She loves this. It is easy to operate and very user friendly. The color is pleasing to the eye as well. I am very pleased with this product.

MSNTV2 has 128mb Memory. This major design flaw makes MSNTV2 semi-useless. For example, YouTube videos longer than two or three minutes will not play on MSNTV2. After two or three minutes, the YouTube videos stop playing. After viewing a few YouTube videos, the MSNTV2's memory is full, and if you don't "reboot", the MSNTV2 "auto-reboots". On Dial-Up, the "auto-reboots" take three to five minutes. I am now using Verizon 768kbs DSL, so the "auto-reboots" take less than one minute.

I am returning my msntv2 unit for a full refund...it doesnt live up to the expectations of the phillips webtv plus unit I had that was destroyed in a power storm...I wish they were not bought out and still made these wonderful units that I could take my family videos and freeze frame pics to relatives...with this unit you cannot. Also it seems you could do more with the webtv plus than with this unit. I have to give the msntv 2 unit a very poor rating. I wish these companies would realize that sometimes newer is not always better !

Once I finally got the player up and running, (and it took awhile), it went from 3 stars to 5 stars. The process of setting it up, can be a problem, if your stubborn, and semi-computer literate as I am. I did not want to use the "Dial-up" option, because I had an existing home-network with broadband inter-net connection already set-up, besides broadband is so much faster,etc. so I "barged" ahead. Now...they tell you to only pick from the list of recommended Adapters, AND THEY ARE RIGHT!! If the player does not recognize the device (adapter, printer, etc.) the system WONT work. After I finally picked a listed adaper, the machine accepted it. Then it was only a matter of compatibility with my existing network devices (Router plus Access Point-if needed) and I was off and running. LIFT-OFF!!! Its GREAT! The problems I had were self-imposed. Just be patient, it WILL work.

I have owned my unit for 1 week. My old Webtv unit could no longer connect to the network, so I decided to buy MSNTV 2. I think it is everything it is advertised to be.
Before I bought it, I called MSNTV Customer Service. The lady I spoke to told me that everything from my webtv would transfer to the new unit- my email address, my favories, and my settings. She said when registering the new unit online certain questions are askedthat would show you havean account. Once the registration was complete, all my information transferred to the new unit. Nothing was lost.
If you are thinking of buying this product, do it. You won't be disappointed.
