Crosley CR49 Traveler Portable Turntable, Tan

I received my record player and when it came out of the box it smelled like a new car! I have been using it for a few weeks now and haven't experienced any problems in playback. One slight issue has developed; the plastic piece that sets the needle onto the record now bumps around. It is bad enough that I cant use it because the needle doesn't come straight down and if I can get it to drop where it should, it jumps over onto the grooves. Nothing I cant handle just using my hand, but I do wish the construction was sturdy enough for that not to have happened. All in all I am very pleased with the player and plan on using it for its full lifetime.

I purchased this turntable as a Christmas present for my grandchildren to play some old vinyl records they had found in the attic. I'm sure these records haven't been played for at least 20 years and happily this turntable did not disappoint. The sound was much better than I had anticipated. It has an authentic case and we are all enjoying the connection to our past.

The record player arrived in timely fashion. It works well, even though it works in an unorthodox way. You gotta be very careful to follow the [somewhat vague] instructions, and, above all, be patient. How would I get a backup needle. No information on that is available.

I bougt this as a gift to my parents for christmas-spoke to them today and they were so disappointed because the albums my son gave them as well as there own 33 1/3 records were too big and kept hitting the back of the record case when the record spun around-I don't know why no one else wrote about this but that seems to be the problem with the one I bought. Will return for something else-

This record player was adequate for playing records, but it does seem to be made out of rather cheap parts. It was dissapointing to get it and not have it work properly from the very start. The first record I put in there would not play past the first two songs, because the automatic shut-off was not set properly. Fortunately, I was able to take the thing apart and fix the problem. It has been functioning fine after that, but I really think that it's poor assembly shows how well the quality control was for this product. I can not comfortably recomend this product for someone who expects a good quality machine.
