![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Great player
I'm surprised that mini disc hasn't caught on. It's small, you can record MP3s (the reason I wanted this in the first place), and it's easily concealable. The only problem I have is that recording takes forever, it's second-for-second (meaning that the time it takes to record is the amount of time the song lasts), and pre-recorded mini discs are hard to come by. Not even Amazon sells them. Other than that, it's a great player. I don't have this particular model, but mine's very similar. I like the fact that you can assign names to each song. Another big, big plus is the cost of the discs: $2 a piece. It doesn't skip and you can record and re-record several times over. I could go on and on about how great mini discs are... 2001-01-03
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Great
The MZ-R70 is great for those who are just starting out with recording stuff, great for early bands and stuff. If you but this you must buy the PC link recorded from SONY so you can put music files on MDs. 2001-01-02
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() PC LINK?
You know I originally bought the Sharp Minidisc Player with the voquette package. The one that is supposed to let you record MP3's. Well it lets you do that but it leads you to believe that it speaks to the MD recorder. It doesnt. You can record MP3's by using any audio player on your computer and then plugging in a cable from you PC line out to you MD Rec. The Voquette is a waste. You can get a cable for $3 and the software is free. You can use napster or windows comes with one usually. I am purchasing the Sony Model MZR70 now without the PC link. Because I think the PC link is probably just like the Voquette. Voquette made me think I could type in the song titles and have them show up in the MD but it doesnt. If anyone knows anything otherwise please let me know. Scott 2000-12-31
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Recording Issue
Great unit - small, compact. Even my big fingers can use the buttons. I would only keep in mind for those considering the purchase of this unit, is that when recording in manual mode, you cannot adjust the recording level while recording! The sharp units can be adjusted in manual recording mode. I understand some of the high level newer Sony units have fixed this... For some people, this would be the very reason not to purchase this unit. For others, it is not a major concern at all. Usually when I begin recording, I am not going to be making a lot of, if any, adjustments. Unit fits fine too in your pocket w/o feeling heavy. 2000-12-16
