Not bad for the price
Unit duplicates tapes well but is a bit noisy. There's no way to adjust tape format , ie standard, hi-grade or metal. Also, you can't adjust volume during dubbing process. Haven't tried taping from external source but the manual says that volume is adjustable in this mode.

TEAC W-600R - Full Logic - Dual Cassette Deck
The Teac is a very nice cassette player/recorder. It has everything you need to do the job. It lacks a remote, headphone/monitor out jack and a mic input. But this aside, those are frills. The sound quality and smooth playback and clean recordings are well worth this units price. A budget deck can be a real music lover's pal, and mine is to me! Highly recommended!

This unit features Dolby B noise reduction and a high speed dubbing. With soft touch controls. And has a pair of LED vu meters.

Good unit at a fair price but please be kind to it
As the author of the Jefferson Airplane book "Take Me To A Circus Tent" and a former radio disc-jockey (That worked in several electronic stores), I am often asked to write and or discuss various audio products and recordings from the 60's and 70's.

TEAC W-600R Dual Full-Logic Cassette

The Teac unit gives you the ability to play on both portions of the deck and record on one. Although you may be tempted to use high speed dubbing, take the extra time and record in the normal mode. Very few decks (Especially in the price range of 100.00) were able to offer trouble free high-speed dubbing.

The old saying you get what you pay for is realistic. The construction is not made for heavy use on a daily basis and you need to operate the controls with care and not reckless abandon.

If you take it easy on the controls and use but don't abuse, for the price you will be satisfied.

As always try to use quality tapes such as Maxell or TDK for the cassette portion and please keep the tape heads clean or it circumvents the idea of a nice investment. Dirty heads will give the playback muddy results.

Enjoy the music and be well,

Great value
This deck has better high frequency response than my old Teac V-66C(died from a loose belt). No Dolby C, but my old tapes sound fine with B. It does clunk when stopping or reversing but that is a nit. I am extremely happy to hear how good my old tapes sound!

Excellent For The Money
This Teac is a suprisingly good deck for the price. It only has Dolby B noise reduction, but that is fine considering that there were (or almost were) no commercial tapes made in Dolby C or DBX anyways. Wow and flutter are not a problem. My only complaint is that you cannot rewind one deck while doing something totally independent on the other because of the single moter drive. I am also not wild about the door design (you push directly on the door to open or close it) but those are minor quips compared to how good it sounds for this price. This would make a great deck if you are transfering you old cassettes to digital.
