I purchased this CB radio at a local electronics store for $[...]. It comes with an adapter to plug into your vehicle. The adapter also has a hookup for an external antenna. You can use the unit as a hand held with the battery packs. The radio comes with two battery holders. One for disposable batteries, another for rechargeable. The rechargeable battery holder has an AC adapter included. It comes with a steel belt clip. Though, be careful it can easily scratch your belt.
The radio isn't very loud, even with the sound at max level. The only time I have any issues hearing it is when I have a window cracked. It does come with a jack for headphones or an external speaker. This Midland model also does not have an ANL (Automatic Noise Limiter), and does receive interference from time to time. The range is to be expected for a hand held radio. Using it with the rubber antenna inside of your vehicle you can expect 1/4 - 3/4 mile range depending on the time of day and terrain. You get better range outside of your vehicle. Excellent for use on ATVs. If you plan to use this radio in your vehicle, it would be wise to purchase an antenna. I purchased a magnetic antenna for portability: [...] 2007-03-24

I'm sure the radio is good - and I'll give it a better rating if I ever receive it! The Amazon-linked seller stated "2 in stock", assured delivery by 20DEC06, then by mid-JAN07, and now I've been asked if I'd like to extend my patience to 03APR07. Don't sell things you don't have. Only disappointed - no longer surprised. Better rating on delivery - I hope. 2007-01-31

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Poor Quality, Receiver Fails After Six Weeks
I ordered the 75-822 in May of 2006. The receiver went "deaf" in August and I returned it to Midland for warranty repair. They sent me a replacment in September, and by November the receiver had failed in the new one. The radio will not pick up anything even with the squelch all the way down. When the radio would receive signals, the audio was so distorted that you could not understand what was being said. The transmitter in both units still worked. Don't waste your money. 2006-12-27

While this unit does offer many features there is one in particular that it is missing. The addition of a ANL (Automatic Noise Limiter) is one thing that could make this a very useful radio on the road. My my application on a motorcycle through a com unit doesn't make the low audio output a problem but in a noisy environment as a stand alone unit it is limited. The small function buttons, necessitated by it's convenient size, are difficult to operate with gloves on. Over all a nice little hand held for CB use.
