Swim Meet Headsets
I bought it because I am an official with United States Swimming and need a two-way radio to transmit disqualifications to other officials at a swim meet. The radio works great when it is kept dry but if it gets splashed too much during a swim meet (since we are standing on the edge of a pool it happens a lot) the push to talk button shorts out and the radio goes into VOX. When it dries out the VOX problem goes away until the next splash.

Not a bargain
My husband and I are both intelligent adults who should easily be able to figure out how to work a simple two way radio. As boaters, we use single side band and marine vhf regularly. We purchased the motorola hands free voice activated unit to use when anchoring and docking. The voice activation does not work 90 percent of the time, even utilizing a head phone. The units get great reception for weather updates, however, we use our vessel's vhf for that. For our purpose, the units were virtually useless. Buyer beware, you get what you pay for. So if you are on the Chesapeake Bay, Eastern Seaboard or in the Bahamas and notice two boaters shouting back and forth when anchoring or docking on a windy day, you will understand that their motorola hands free voice activated unit is not working again.

Motorola EM1000R 20-Mile
I have purchased a total of 5 sets (10 individuals). My daughter and I take my grandkids camping each year and these are so handy. Each person gets their own and they (the walkie talkies) all communicate with each other, as long as their are all on the same channel. My grandkids, ages 16 months, 9, 11 and 13 yrs can all use them. Yes, even the 16 month old can push the button, we just don't know what he's saying, although this is not the fault of the walkie talkie. They allowed the kids more freedom since the cell phones didn't work but the walkie talkie's did, the kids could go exploring and still check-in without having to run all the way back to camp.
They were turned on for approximately 6 hours a day for 3-1/2 days. The little flash light is great, we dont have to pack as many individual flash lights for each kid. At no time during our trip did they not work for us. So far I have found the distance limits to be correct as listed on the packaging. In the city has been about 2-1/2 to 3 miles.
As far as the seller, I flet the price was reasonable, I received my order on time with no problems. I would order from this seller again.

Works as an intercom for a 2-story house
Just used these for a few days and they work fine. Now using them as an intercom so I want to have them ON all of the time. The charger base allows you to keep the radio ON. The second radio downstairs can be charged through the mini USB connector, but the radio goes OFF when attached. You'll need a USB cable and mini-USB adaptor to charge from a PC port, or charge from USB charger for my cell phone. It recharges in 2 - 3 hrs from the low battery level. You will know it's low when it starts the repeated audio low battery "alert" (static burst).

The owners manual is in very small print. A free PDF copy can be downloaded from their Web site.

Great range and sound quality!
