Sony SSF-5000 Floor Standing 3-way Speaker (Pair)

UPS was not kind the box. The speaker cover on one of them has a broken peg. I really wish we could choose the shipping company. UPS is slipping in their quality of service. Other than that, I love these speakers. They sound great whether I'm listening to music or watching a blu-ray.

I consider myself an audio expert although since getting married and having two children my available funds for this obsession has decreased considerably. Ten/twenty years ago I would never consider a pair or Sony tower speaker, that were just cheap, like most other non-US made speakers were then. But, after careful research and when the priced dipped to $99 shipped I jumped on these. Wow, let's just say IF they show up on your door with the box still in tact you will be very happy. My box was pretty beat up but the speakers themselves were untouched. I expected very little "sound quality" from the speakers to begin with but wow they are truly nice and sound great. Plenty of bass for me and the living room, I get plenty of bass from PC's Logitech Z-5300 setup, too much if your familar with those hah! Seriously though, for the price I've looked and there is nothing out there even close to the value/sound these babies produce. The only deal I've seen better than this was when Fry's sold the Polk Monitor 50's for $118 pair, I should have jumped all over that but in the end I'm very satisfied wiht the Sony's.

I have been an audio engineer and musician for over forty years............I own a pair of studio monitors...Acoustic 626s, which are the envy of my friend's eyes...........yet these small Sony speakers really do the job in a small room. I use them for music and gaming from my computer..............they excell!..........for a near field experience, they are unparalleled. Once you listen off axis, or beyond fifteen feet, the sound dissapates, and becomes irregular...........but that was expected. These little guys are optimal from a couple of feet in front of your face........the bass is awesome...........the clarity crystalline...............overall experinece: superior! I have poured over one hundred watts rms into each speaker with no audible distortion..........they do the job. I paid about $140 per pair, but feel the price was minimal for the product. The quality was profound.

I bought these huge floor speakers--the Sony SSF-5000 Floor Standing 3-Way Speakers for more than what they're sold from Amazon today but it was well-worth the extra few bucks! I received the shipment in 3 days after I had ordered them and they work excellently along with my old Sony receiver and several additional speakers giving me the surround sound I desired. They have a full range of sounds (except for the deepest bass that I get from my Sony SA-WM500 Subwoofer and it's excellent sounds, too) from the woofer speaker to the tweeters (and everything in between)! Unlike some other floor speakers I have had, it has a single push-in connection which makes it a lot easier to hook up to my whole system. This speaker plus my Sony SS-CN5000 Dual 5.25" Center Channel Speaker are all excellent in producing excellent ranges of sounds from the Jazz and Classical music I play from my computer through my receiver. I would recommend these products to anyone who likes the good sounds Sony products produce and I think that Sony products are very dependable and excellent in quality (and I don't work for Sony either but just one "sold" consumer of their products).

I purchased these to replace a pair of Yamaha speakers in my home theatre system. I am impressed with how big these speakers sound. No, they are not "audiophile" quality, but for most, and I mean probably 95% of people out there, these will more than suffice. The bass response is huge. I'm now rethinking whether or not I really need a subwoofer for my system. The mids are just right and not too out front. The highs are perfect for me, not too trebly but sharp and crisp. I have a 5.1 system and these speakers really compliment the whole thing. Absolutely the best bang for my buck in a long time. You will not be disappointed...well, unless you're an audiophile purist. Not that there's anything wrong with that. If you've got the money to shell out for mega thousand dollar systems, I say go for it. But if you're on a budget, like most of us these days, I can highly recommend these speakers.
