![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Great speakers at a bargain price
I bought these as a gift for my father to upgrade his front speakers on his home theater-in-a-box. These are a huge improvement. They provide sounds into the upper-bass area as others have mentioned, whereas the speakers that came with the HTIB were little tinny things with no bass at all. These really bring out the mids and highs as well, and at under $100 for the pair, were a bargain. They have some weight to them and are of high quality construction. I recommend pairing these with a good center channel (I used a klipsch c-1) to dramatically improve the sound of an HTIB. 2010-01-23

Needed additional speakers to go from 5.1 to 7.1 surround sound setup. These worked perfect and look good to. The price was also very good. 2010-01-19
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() not worth the money
I bought a pair of c-50 6 months ago, had them broken in, and the sound IS still 'muffled", and not as bright. i own a pair of c-100 energy, the difference in sound is simply night and day.
if you are on a budget, may be those speakers will be good for the job, although you can do much betetr with a pair of polk audio monitor M-30, which sound 10 times betetr then the C-50, and are at similar prices. While they are very well built, and heavy, I did not get the highs and lows i was expecting. The sound was just not bright enough and not clear enough, DRIVING THROUGH PIONEER VSX 919 110 W/CHANEL). Now please do not misunderstand me, the speakers will deliver good sound, but what I mean, IMO, for the money you can really do better (i.e.: c-100. OR POLK M30, M40) If you are wlling to spend an extra buck, I advise you to get the C-100 or the C-200 from energy, or go polk audio M-30 or M-40, they are on sale now, making room for the TSI series. I gave my speakers to a friend, as I stopped using them after a while. wish i went with the C-100 to start with. hope this will helpful for potential byuers. 2009-11-15
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Great speakers for the money
I bought these as part of an HT set along with the C-C50 and the S8.3 subwoofer. Out of the box, these speakers sound way too bright. Give them 10s of hours to break in and turn down the treble a little bit until they loosen up. After that they sound great. These speakers are small and produce an amazing amount of sound; however, they can get lost in a large room. If you've got a decent amount of space to fill, you might consider the C-100's. Search the web for the best price, some stores appear to be clearing out old stock. 2009-06-28
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Why? and why I think they do the job.
I was using a 35 year old pair of Infiniti 4000's as my rear surround sound speakers and recently listened as the woofers gave out. Since my main speakers are Energy Connoisseur Reference 22's, older than the Infinities, but performing better than when new, and over the years I added Energy front surround and center speakers, all from the Connoisseur series, another pair of Energy speakers for the rear surround made sense to me. The C-50's are on sale as close outs and the price was right, thinking if they didn't integrate into my system well, I could always use them elsewhere, I made the decision to buy.
Tho they are still being broken in (Energy suggest 100 hours at moderate volume to break in the transducers), the performance of the C-50's have surpassed the Infinities beyond my expectations, and despite the massive difference of cabinet size and that the C-50's are the bottom of the C line. The sound definition and sound stage have improved significantly for my Yamaha driven 7.1 receiver. The Energy 22's supply more than sufficient base response in my living room to forgo a separate subwoofer. Pursuant to my previous pleasure with Energy speakers, the C-50's have added to the aural experience. I will continue recommending Energy speakers when the opportunity presents itself. 2009-03-01
