It was relatively cheap and does exactly what it says it does. I do not have anything negative to say, I just wish it had more fiber and hdmi ports. Like I said though, it does exactly what it says... 2008-09-29
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() great buy
this receiver is perfect for the money--sound is awesome--with the hdmi wires only one wire is needed--a big plus for me is the a/b switch that allows me to have music playing in the backyard while someone can watch tv inside.highly recommend 2008-08-09

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Excellent Receiver At This Price Level
I bought this receiver after purchasing (& returning) a Sony receiver that was broken right out of the box. I have never owned an Onkyo until this one, and I have been impressed. I primarily needed it to use with my HD-DVD player (replaced with a PS3) and my Xbox 360. I found the setup to be quite easy, and I used HDMI and optical cables. Yes, there is some confusion about HDMI audio, but I knew what I was getting considering the price level of this receiver! I have used the receiver quite a bit in the past 3 months since anytime I play videos games or watch rented movies it has to be on with my current setup. I have yet to have any issues with the unit, and I am very happy with my purchase. Is it the best on the market? Of course not, but I think it is the best at this price level. If you have $800-$1500 I'm sure you do a lot better, but if you just need a basic home theater receiver, I can recommend this unit. 2008-07-30
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The best of the inexpensive.
This is the best of the below $300 models out there. You need to understand it won't pull sound from hdmi, so you have to pull a fiber line from each source for sound. If you use your TV for sound then you shouldn't be buying a receiver anyway. It is very simple to setup and use, and the capability of 7.1 makes it fill my living room with sound. I think it is well worth the price. 2008-07-19
