Worked for a few months, broke, then I modified it to work.
As others have previously written, sometimes this has a problem with auto-reverse. I did not encounter that the first few months I've been using it. Suddenly it acted up just the way as others have explained. I have a 2002 Accord EX.
I did what J. Christofferson did in his review. Works well now, albeit, only on one side. The other side just hums. YMMV. There's also the noise of the gears but it gets drowned out when the music is on and the car is moving.
To sum up what others have stated, I did this:
1) remove 6 screws from the one side and arrange them so you can put them in again. It might not look like it but two of the screws are smaller.
2) flip it over and take out the 2 screws near the top.
3) slowly take off half of casing. I used the screwdriver that i used for the screws to help with this.
4) On the upper left side is a white plastic housing that pulls out. Pull it out and remove the gear that is screwed on.
5) Place the housing back and test the gears if they rotate properly.
6) Close it up, two screws back, flip it over, 6 screws back on and test it out in your car.
Hope that helps someone. Worked for me.
