All's good, except.............
I purchased this item after quite a bit of research. It was the top pick for Consumer Reports and all of the reviews were positive. However, the only thing I was weary of was the negative publicity behind the length of speaker wire for the rear speakers. My family room is small, maybe 13x15, so I thought for sure the amount of speaker wire provided would be sufficient. I was wrong. I was short a good five or six feet. I was very disappointed. Everything else about this system is top notch. It is as good as advertised, and I do recommend it, however, do not plan on having enough speaker wire to wire your entire room. Plan on buying extra and splicing it.

Very nice product!
I recently purchased a 32" samsung HDTV for my room. My room is like 18feetx12feet. its pretty small. so i knew i didnt need anything crazy. and this is my first time to ever by a sound system, so i was definetely going for a cheaper end system, seeing as some bose systems are over a grand! After reviewing many systems i bought this one, and I LOVE IT. I am very happy. I really have no negative comments to make towards this product. The speakers sound great. The sub is just enough to put some "umph" behind the special effects in movies. It's crazy how many lower sounds you miss when you do not have a sub with your television. I love the different experience of just watching david letterman! Blue rays are great to watch with these speakers. And xbox 360 is a completely new experience!!! If you are a gamer, this is a good choice.

The only difficulties i faced were during the initial setup of the system. The front speaker wires could be a little longer, seeing as my right one is nearly too short, but that's an easy fix. Just a little bit of wire splicing and it will be set, if this problem does arise. And at one point i had trouble getting the sound to work with my television. I had to go and purchase a fiber optical cable, and then audio worked great.

I highly recommend this product to anyone who like me, wants to save a little cash but spend just enough to get something worth your money.

Length cords far too short
Very frustrating trying to set up. The speaker cords have a custom plug, so you have to use them. But then Sony makes them too short, especially the back ones. My living room certainly isn't huge and I had to splice some other wires to them to make them the extra 5 feet they needed. What a pain. Does Sony think a typical living room is the size of a small dorm room?

Great Value
The Sony BVDE300, home theater system is a great value. Set up is quick and easy. To use the system is easy. The sound quality is great for our home. The video playback is excellent. The main reason for purchasing this system was to interface with a Sony Bravia LCD television; it is a great combination. We now have only a single remote control that controls our tv, dvd/blu-ray, and stereo. And as a bonus, the system looks great.
