Sony DVP-FX730 7-Inch Portable DVD Player, Black

some people had an issue with the sound - to me the sound is great. it can get really loud, which is surprising because really, how far could you sit from a screen that size? what's funny is that i bought it so that i could do my workout dvds (ok, dance dvds) anywhere in my house...and i always hear it and it is great audio-wise.
as for the resolution, i am pretty impressed. what i like the most is that you don't need the remote to control it - you can jump to the menu screen and use the 'arrows' on the actual unit - or you could use the remote. at first i thought it was wierd that such a portable device would even have a remote, but now i like it. i use it while i'm typing and doing movie reviews, so the remote helps so the screen isn't super close to me...and ps the remote comes with a battery! another reason why to like. would i buy it again? yes. and that's big considering i had looked at other models, from other brands. this one was definately the right choice.

I took my DVD player with me on a long road trip and I was able to play movies for days by just simply recharging it when necessary. It will last 5 hours on a single charge. It's very light and easy to use. It also plays burned DVD's for those of you who have DVD backups. It's very simplistic and there's not much to say. It works and I like it a lot. I'm not sure whether or not it will play any other region besides 1 since I don't have any of those discs to try. All I have is region 1.

Overall, I rate this product 5 stars. No hassles since I bought it from Amazon and you know how convenient that is.

I would have given this product 5*'s except that it stopped working 3 months after I bought it. Up until then, the picture was great, the sound volume was great, and the battery life was exceptional.

As a simple DVD player this unit is good for the money. The fit and finish is above average with the sound also above average and the video quality as good as you can get from a small screen. I did return it because the sound and video do not turn off when the top is closed. The unit was purchased to be used both as a portable unit and as a main DVD unit for a bedroom. When hooked up to a TV there is no video button or built in switch that turns off the video or sound when hooked up externally to a TV. As a result you need to turn the volume down otherwise you can hear it from the unit. More importantly there is a glow from the unit as the video screen is still showing the movie. Additionally, this is a lousy miss by Sony as the battery has been depleted on more than one occasion as my child has closed the top on a movie when it was over and the video screen remained on draining the battery. My portable Panasonic and Toshiba both had the ability to both automatically and manually switch the video/ sound off.

This is a great DVD player. got it for my 3 year old for x mas and it hasnt gave us any problems works great and has a hold button so he can push any of them and mess it up! very light weight and good battery!
