Sony D-NF340 CD Walkman & MP3 Player w/FM Tuner

works great with my new Altec Lansing iM-237 Orbit Ultraportable speaker. im happy humboldt 4:20 OUT

My Sony Portable CD player just came with the packacking cut up and the power adapter and headphones missing. The CD player was taped up with some kind of tape around it. This is the first bad experience I have had with ordering through Amazon and the worst experience I have had ordering anything ever. Now I have to package this up, go to the post office, and order another CD player.

If you want to have better sound quality via a CD player, compared to an iPod, don't buy this one.

Specifically, when playing not-too-noisy musics, there's quite a lot of noticeable background noises, more than any other discman or iPod I have been using. I did a comparison with my iPhone 3GS using the same earphones, which has similar sound quality but virtually no background noise. If this is what a CD walkman can provide, I'd rather call it a flawed product.

By far the worst unit I ever purchased! Very poor sound quality even though hi end headphones used. EATS batteries! Complicated to use / excessive buttons. I didn't even try the MP3 aspect. Overall a horrible unit. I should have trusted my brain when I saw Sony but I took a chance after reading reviews. I have MUCH better quality with RCA & Philips bought for 1/3 of the price at Walmart. Item being returned to Amazon same day!

I PURCHASED A SIMILAR UNIT FROM RADIO SHACK BEFORE I KNEW ABOUT THIS SONY. IT PERFORMED WELL FOR A WHILE THEN IT FIRED A SQUACK OR SCREAM INTO MY EARPHONES, A NOISE LOUD ENOUGH TO MAKE ME DUCK, AS THOUGH A JET WAS PASSING ABOUT FIFTY FEET OVER MY HEAD. IT ONLY HAPPENED A FEW TIMES, BUT ONCE WAS TOO MUCH. WHAT WAS AT FAULT? AS A FAIR MAN AND A GOOD SCIENTIST I TRIED THREE DIFFERENT EARPHONES, THE SCREAM HAPPENED ON EVERYONE. I RETURNED IT WITHIN THE 90 DAY WARRENTY, BUT IT WAS DEEMED UNRETUNABLE. IT WAS EXPLAINED TO ME THAT A UNIT COULD BE RETURNED FOR DEFECT ONLY WITHIN A 30 DAY WINDOW. IT COULD BE RETURN INSIDE THE 90 DAY WINDOW ONLY IF IT WAS WITHOUT DEFECT, ONLY IF IN WORKING ORDER SUCH THAT IT COULD BE RESOLD. I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS COMPANY POLICY BUT SO FAR I AM STUCK WITH IT.

I THEN BOUGHT A SIMILAR UNIT AT BEST BUY, ALSO A MEMOREX BUT WITH THEIR HOUSE BRAND LABEL. IT WORKED NOT AT ALL WHEN THE EARPHONE JACK WAS PUSHED ALL THE WAY IN. WHEN THE JACK WAS ONLY HALF WAY IN IT WORKED, BUT ONLY IN THE LEFT EAR. BEST BUY GRACIOUSLY ACCEPTED MY RETURN AND FURTHER THEY CAREFULLY NOTED THE PROBLEM.

TO DATE, THIS SONY, USED EVERY DAY, WALKING, CLUNKING IN TO THINGS IN MY CROWDED STUDIO, HAS BEEN PERFECT.
